Vigilantes Killed One, Nab 10 Suspected Kidnapers In Plateau

Members of the vigilante Group in Munbutbo, Kanam local government area of Plateau State, have killed one and arrested 10 other suspected kidnappers.

Incidences of kidnapings have swelled up in recent times in the area, leaving scores dead while others injured with the abductors pocketing thousands collected in ransom.

The suspects were picked up during an early morning raid on their camps in the forest around the Munbutbo community.

WikkiTimes gathered that the suspects belonged to a gang of kidnappers terrorizing the Kanam axis kidnapping scores and collecting huge sums as ransom from their victims.

One of the suspected terrorists killed, suspected to be an informant to the kidnapers was shot dead during the operation.

The Commander of the vigilante group, Usman Saleh, who is also a resident of Munbutbo, confirmed the arrest of the suspects.

He said the group had already handed the arrested suspects to the police, adding that they were taken to Jos for further investigations.

The Head of Police Division Officer of Kanam Local Government said the suspects were brought into the station where they confessed to being members of a kidnap gang terrorizing the state.

“The 10 kidnappers were brought to my palace by the vigilante groups after they were apprehended during a search in the forest,” he said.
