We Will Immediately Reconcile Aggrieved Members, Says Plateau PDP Chair

Mr Chris Hassan, newly-elected Plateau State Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), has assured members of the party that his administration would immediately embark on reconciliation mission.

Hassan, who stated this on Tuesday shortly after taking over from the Sen. Tunde Ogbeha-led Caretaker Committee, said that he would unite all members of the party.

The chairman said that his administration would be all-inclusive, and intend to resolve pending issues in the party.“PDP under my leadership will embark on an extensive reconciliatory process and we will emphasize the issue of unity.

“Because if we are united, we can fight any force. If you look at the political map of Plateau, PDP dominates and the people are waiting for us to take charge.“But if we don’t resolve our differences, we will not succeed,” he said.

On the possibility of PDP participating in the forthcoming October 9, 2021, local government elections in the state, Hassan said that the party’s hope lies in the judiciary.

He expressed hope that PDP would emerge victorious on September 29 judgement challenging the Plateau State Independent Electoral Commission (PLASIEC) decision to bar the party from participating in the election because of an earlier court judgement that does not concern PLASIEC.

It will be recalled that PLASIEC had stopped PDP from participating in the said election, allegedly due to multiple litigations between PDP members.

The chairman further said that in spite of the challenges bedevilling the party, PDP remains a party to beat.

According to him, many politicians currently with other political parties have indicated interest to join the PDP.

He expressed optimism that PDP would recapture power from the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) come 2023.

Ogbeha, in his remarks, urged the new executives of the party to run a transparent and inclusive administration.

The caretaker committee chairman urged the new leadership to bring members on board in order to reclaim power in 2023. (NAN)
