We Will Recruit 10,000 Vigilantes – Gov. Bala

Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, Bauchi State Governor has said that 10,000 vigilantes will be engaged to help improve the security of lives and properties of citizens of the state.

The Governor said the vigilantes will work at the local level in synergy with traditional rulers and state security architectures.

Bala Mohammed said this on Friday while signing 12 bills Speaker of the Bauchi State House of Assembly presented to him for assent into law at the Excos Chamber, Government House Bauchi.

The governor said tackling insecurity demands collaboration and support from well-meaning citizens.

He said the youths will be housed and guided by the newly enacted law establishing Bauchi State Vigilantes and Youths Empowerment Agency.

Governor Bala also assented to the law to establish Bauchi State Security Trust Fund with a view to harnessing resources garnered under the law for the acquisition and deployment of human, financial and material security apparatus in the state.

He said, “to this end, there is the need for the officials of the relevant agencies to acquaint themselves with the details of the law.”
