Why Hon. Yunusa Ahmed Should be the Next Bauchi Assembly Speaker

Bauchi state has been marred by underdevelopment for quite a long time. The so called dividends of democracy remain a fiction of the imagination of its believer.

From education to Health, from Agricultural to Infrastructural development—the story remains the same. All the sectors are retarded in one place for many reasons.

First; the administrations that manned the affairs of the state for couple of years were either not willing to develop the state, or were flawed by incompetent sycophants whose only priorities were themselves and their immediate families.

Second; all the previous administrations lack vibrant and articulate leadership of the state assemblies that are capable of prevailing on the administrations of the day in ensuring that good programs are framed, enacted and implemented to benefit the common people in the state.

Third; the antecedents of underdevelopment in Bauchi is tied around lack or inadequate lucid and proficient leadership at all levels—but more importantly within and among the lawmakers. These problems and deficiencies that are evident need educated, dedicated, charismatic and pulsating leaders, to address—to which Yunusa Ahmed is the right man.

A brief background of who is Hon. Yunusa Ahmed will properly put into context why he deserves to be the next Speaker of the Bauchi state House of Assembly.

Among all the 7 returning law makers who are likely to contest the position of speakership in the Bauchi state House of Assembly, Yunusa Ahmed remains committed and truthful to his values of women and youth empowerment. He did not only train women and youths, but also empowered them on different kind of businesses like tailoring, empowered women and youth with tricycles, motorcycles, and other different kinds of businesses.

His political exuberance gave him the audacity to stand alone and defied the urge of repressive politicians who wanted to make him their subservient political agent who would represent their interest against that of the masses whom he found reason to treasure.

Yunusa Ahmed stood firm, informed by his resilience and dogged political moves to embrace the masses, he established one of the most decent political movements devoid of political gangsterism. His campaigns were mostly focused on issues that have direct bearing on the masses rather than attacking personalities.

He refused to be a political godson to desperados, who are anxious to cow him to their whims and caprices—instead, he remains on the side of people’s oriented politics as confined in the character of a true democrat—enabling him to resist people who wanted to expose him into a helpless political prey that is socially and politically subsumed by “the cabals”.

These unprecedented ideals, characters and characteristics exhibited by this true democrat deserve to be promoted to “the next level”. Satisfied by the fair and true representations he accords them in the last four years, his constituents have rewarded Yunusa Ahmed with another chance to represent them.

The trained nurse, naval officer cum expert in International relations is no doubt a better candidate to emerge as the next Bauchi State House of Assembly Speaker in view of the enormous challenges of underdevelopment that has hold the state sway for many years.

Yunusa Ahmed’s good relationship with his constituents, his friends and other lawmakers as well as his academic and leadership accolades naturally positioned him to be our next speaker. He has the dexterity, expertise, experience, vision and patience to curate, frame and nurture laws and programs that will consolidate the incoming administration to perform it duties and functions.

We urge his colleagues whom we believe equally have the interest of the state to elect Yunusa Ahmed as their next speaker—doing so will enable the state catch it peers in development.
