A Kano-based tech enthusiast, Bashir Mustapha, has begun USB cable production in Kano with an aim to enhance local production and provide job opportunities.
Mustapha in a telephone interview with WikkiTimes, said the idea to begin mass USB cable production was conceived to discourage over reliance on importation of basic items and to create jobs for the teeming youths.
WikkiTimes reports that Mustapha’s cable production has received positive review from social media users since when his picture went viral.
According to him, their initiative is one of its kind in Africa as they only bought the machines, but other activities were done by his team.
“We started this company MUCSTAR Cables and Acessories three months ago. This was borne out of the desire to make our people self-sufficient. We can’t be relying on importing everything. USB cables are part of basic needs of mobile phone users.
“We have the machine here, we did the production, it is only wires that we bought but all other things are done here in our company”, said Mustapha.
The young tech enthusiast said they initially give out the cables to family and friends for testing and they have proven to be of high quality, adding that now it is in the market and the demand is high.
“Our products are of high quality; people have been calling to place their orders. This initiative will provide employment opportunity to our youths”, he added.
