WikkiTimes Partners GNI Trainers, Blend Bauchi Journalists on Digital Skills

WikkiTimes Online news platform in partnership with Google News Initiative resource persons have trained Bauchi journalists and social media influencers on digital skills and investigative journalism techniques.
The training is part of Google’s small newsroom empowerment initiative which saw more than 10 media houses in Nigeria benefiting from the Google News Initiative.
Ali Isah, a google certified facilitator, said WikkiTimes’ incredible journalism has positioned the platform to benefit from the GNI challenge.
He said that journalists working in the present century cannot afford to operate with analogue thinking and tools.

Ali Isah said 21st-century journalism requires hard work and new techniques and technologies to deliver journalism of relevance.
He urged the participants to make the best use of the skills they acquire from the training in the best interest of the masses.

In his remarks, Haruna Mohammed Salisu, Publisher of WikkiTimes, said the training was initially tailored for his staff only but decided to invite participants from other media organisation in the state.

“We decided to open up the programme because there is love in sharing,” he said.

In his remarks at the end of the training, Comrade Umar Sa’id, Bauchi State Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists commended the resource person and WikkiTimes for organising the training.

He said it is high time for journalists in Nigeria to stand up and rise to the occasion by availing themselves the opportunity to learn more skills to perform well.

He said the training organised by WikkiTimes is the first of its kind, adding, it will go down memory lane as impacting and innovative.
