Windstorm Kills 4 in Bauchi

A windstorm has killed at least four persons at the Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (IBB) Square in the Bauchi metropolis.

WikkiTimes reports that the IBB Square hosted the recently concluded North East Joint Trade Fair. Similarly, the windstorm damaged  Gombe and Yobe States pavilions and several business tents within the square.

Confirming the incident to reporters on Sunday, the spokesperson for Bauchi Police Command, Ahmed Wakil, said the deceased persons include Abdullahi Abubakar, a 38-year-old resident of Bauchi metropolis; Ahmed Alfa; Malam Musa and Abdul’aziz Abdulrahman from Gombe State.

“However, one individual, Fatima Isa, is currently receiving medical treatment and showing positive signs of recovery,” Wakil revealed. “The authorities have taken the necessary steps, including depositing the deceased individuals at the mortuary, to address the aftermath of the storm.”

Wakil said efforts are underway to assess the extent of damage caused by the storm, adding that the command operatives were deployed to the scene of the incident to prevent unforeseen criminal activities by hoodlums.
