Winich Farms has distributed 107 bags of 1kg long grain rice to promote healthy nutrition as part of activities marking this year’s World Food Day.
The distribution took place in Nasaru, Ningi Local Government Area, Bauchi State.
Speaking during the event, Winich Farms’ Bauchi State Lead, Emmanuel Amodu, explained the initiative’s aim to address the current food scarcity, especially in rural areas.
According to him, the distribution of rice to 107 beneficiaries was one of several efforts to support food security in the region.
In addition to the rice distribution, Amodu revealed that 30 farmers were selected for training on post-harvest handling of paddy rice and soya beans. Certificates were presented to the participants upon completion of the training, which aims to enhance farming practices and reduce post-harvest losses.
“This gesture is part of our commitment to commemorate World Food Day by supporting communities involved in the supply chain,” Amodu said.
The Village Head of Nasaru, Alhaji Mas’ud Attahiru, praised Winich Farms for the initiative, noting that it had a positive impact on the well-being of beneficiaries and contributed to improving food security in the area.
The Village Head said this initiative not only provided immediate food relief but also equipped local farmers with the knowledge to improve agricultural productivity and sustainability.
Some of the beneficiaries expressed their gratitude and thank Winich Farms for recognizing their needs and supporting them during these challenging times.
