Women Affairs Minister Disrupts Event, Orders Arrest of Organizer for Alleged Impersonation

Minister of Women Affairs, Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye, stormed an event in Abuja and ordered the arrest of the organizer, Mela-Chiyoma of Pat Limited, for alleged impersonation of the ministry.

The event, “Unveiling the Power of Women and Food Security,” was reportedly held without the ministry’s approval. The minister confirmed that the organizer is in custody with the Department of State Services (DSS) for impersonation.

Kennedy-Ohanenye stated, “The Federal Ministry of Women Affairs did not plan this event. The organizer has been arrested and is with the DSS. We had canceled this event, but she proceeded with it, which is an impersonation and fraud.”

She emphasized that the organizer should have used her own name and not the ministry’s to host the event. The minister apologized for the disruption but stressed that impersonation will not be tolerated.

The minister, in a video posted by the ICIR on its X handle, accused the organizer of taking her ministry for granted and using the name of a director in the Federal Minstry of Women Affairs in the event.

“This is an impersonation. As far as this thing was given out there, that makes it a fraud. So, that is why I am standing here to explain this to everyone. She has been arrested.

“She should have organized herself, used her name to make an invitation, and used her name to do this and not to use the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs.

“I can’t allow this programme to move on. I am sorry about it because this is pure impersonation, and the president is not happy about it.
