World war II veteran dies at 99 buried in Gombe

Gombe State Government has lost a world war ll veteran, Nabinta Tumar Kaltungo whose contributions to peace and peaceful coexistence left no doubt in the minds of many Nigerians.

The Gombe State Government which joined multitude of sympathizers to mourn the passing away of the World War ll Veteran and a seasoned politician who is an uncle to former Senator Joshua Moljobok Lidani described him as a dedicated Patriot who contributed immensely towards peace building and development of the country.

The State Deputy Governor, Dr Manassah Daniel Jatau who led a Powerful Government delegation on behalf of Governor Mohammadu Inuwa Yahaya to pay their last respect on the deceased during a funeral service in ECWA John Hall Memorial Church, Kalorgu, Kaltungo Local Area said the deceased is cherished by people for his sacrifices as veteran to his father land.

Governor Yahaya said, “many people cherished his sacrifices, the Governor and the people of Gombe State Will remember and cherished the sacrifices of the deceased as a Veteran Military Officer who fought to maintain peace in Nigeria and the world”.

He explained that the late Baba Nabinta having lived a fulfilled life, has left legacies that could be imbibed by all, especially by the younger generation so that they could live beautiful memories to be remembered for.

The Governor urged the family of the deceased to rather rejoice that he died a natural death having reached a ripe old age of 99 years and has left many children, grand and great grand children, praying God to grant him eternal rest.

Earlier, Senator Joshua M. Lidani appreciated all those who identified with the family by contributing to the success of the burial, praying God to grant them safe journey mercies.

The late Baba Army Corporal Nabinta Tumar died at the age of 99. He is survived by 27 children, 81 grand children and 18 great grand children.

Meanwhile ,the Government Delegation comprising of Commissioners of Higher Education; Mr. Meshach Lauco, Youths and Sports; Mr. Julius Ishaya and Internal Security and Ethical Orientation, Mr. Dauda Batari Zambuk.
