World Wildlife Day: Bauchi govt pledges to revive Yankari Game Reserve to center of tourism

Bauchi State Government has reaffirmed its commitment toensure Yankari Games Reserve become the center of the tourism in the world.

The State Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, AlhajiModibbo A Ahmed dropped this hint in a press statement issued to Journalists inBauchi on the celebration of the 2020 World Wildlife Day.

Modibbo A Ahmed said currently the state government throughhis ministry is working with some development partners with a view to invest inYankari Games Reserve and Sumu Wildlife park.

The Commissioner who said government alone cannot run itstourism centers, observed that, their support will assist in developing andadvancing the sector in the state.

According to him, in particular the ministry has seek theintervention of the Ambassador of Namibia as part of efforts to support thesupply of animals to Sumu Wildlife park.

” We celebrate the live of our Animals and plants,without animals we are no where. Let’s work together to ensure theirprotection.

“The incalculable value of wildlife, the animals andplants that live in the wild have an intrinsic value and contribute to theecological, genetic, social, economic, scientific, educational, cultural,recreational and aesthetic aspects of human well-being and to sustainabledevelopment.”

He recalled that, the World Wildlife Day is an opportunityto celebrate the many beautiful and varied forms of wild fauna and flora and toraise awareness of the multitude of benefits that their conservation providesto people.

He said it also provides a unique opportunity to delivertransformative progress for the conservation and sustainable use of the speciesof wild animals and plants.

The Commissioner while applauding investors for declaringinterest to invest in hotel and tourism in the state, reiterated government’scommitment to ensure the safety and welfare of animals in addition to theirintegration into biodiversity.

Modibbo A Ahmed used the medium to appeal to people of thestate especially those residing around Yankari Games Reserve to assistgovernment in the protection of the animals.

The theme of the 2020 World Wildlife Day is “Sustainingall life on Earth.”
