YAN Inaugurates Bauchi Parliament, Urges Members to Shun Violence

The Youth Assembly of Nigeria (YAN), Bauchi State Chapter, has inaugurated its parliament in Bauchi.

The inauguration ceremony presided over by the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Comrade Mohammed Sani Hassan, saw the installation of Comrade Sani Dan’audi Mohammed as the new Speaker of the Bauchi YAN chapter.

In his address, Comrade Hassan urged the new parliamentarians to build on the legacy of their predecessors and strive for even greater achievements.

He highlighted the core objective of YAN as the positive mobilization of youth towards a better Nigeria, stressing the importance of the youth in fulfilling their responsibilities to ensure the nation’s progress.

He called on the members to shun any act of violence in their engagements for the progress of youths and the country.

In his acceptance speech, the new speaker, Rt. Hon. Sani Danaudi Mohammed emphasized the assembly’s commitment to advocating for quality education, promoting inclusivity and social justice, and fostering collaboration with stakeholders for sustainable development.

Mohammed pledged to work with local government chairmen, engage in quarterly seminars and sittings, and hold zonal youth summits to address pressing issues affecting young people. He also announced plans to draft a “50% Youths Inclusion Bill 2024” to increase youth representation in decision-making positions.

The Speaker commended Governor Bala Mohammed for appointing young people to key positions and urged the Federal and State Governments to continue engaging with Nigerian youth. He also called for increased funding for commercial agriculture and education to address school dropout, unemployment, and poverty.

Mohammed emphasized the need for unity and collective action to address the challenges facing Northern Nigeria, particularly insecurity and economic uncertainty. He expressed optimism about the potential for positive change and pledged to work tirelessly to ensure the voices of young people are heard.
