Yobe Gov Flags-Off 2022 Sale Of Fertiliser, Pegs Price At N13,000

Mai Mala Buni, the Governor of Yobe State, has approved N13,000 as the official price for NPK fertiliser ahead of the 2022 farming season.

In a speech at the launch of the fertiliser on Monday in Damaturu, Buni warned that the commodity should be sold to farmers only, saying: “let me sound a warning that the government would not condone any act of diversion or sabotage.”

This came a few days after Bauchi State governor, Bala Mohammed, flagged off the 2022 farming sale of fertiliser for the farmers in the state, where a 50 kilogram (kg) bag of NPK would be sold at N15,000 while a 50 kg bag of Urea would be sold at N20,000.

Governor Buni said his administration would ensure equitable distribution of the commodity to the target farmers in the state. “Government officials entrusted with the sale and distribution of the commodity must ensure equitable sales and distribution to the 17 local government areas.”

Buni urged the farmers not to sell the commodity, which they purchased at a subsidised rate, advising them to use the input to cultivate crops and earn a living while improving economic development in the state.
