Zamfara Community Protection Guard Gets First Commandant

Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State has appointed retired Lt. Col. Rabi’u Yandoto as the State Commandant of the newly established Community Protection Guards (CPG), a local security outfit.

This is contained in a statement issued by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Malam Abubakar Nakwada, on Friday in Gusau, the capital of the state.

News Agency of Nigeria reports that the two retired Majors, Muhammad Adamu and Ahmed Shinkafi would serve as Deputy and Assistant State Commandants, respectively.

Adamu will be in charge of administration while Shinkafi will be responsible for logistics, the statement said.

“Among the appointees are the Guards Commanders for the 14 Local Government Areas of the state.”

WikkiTimes reports that Governor Lawal inaugurated over 2,500 members of the local security outfit who were trained and deployed for community policing duties across the state.
