Zamfara council chairman calls for stakeholders’ support to end insecurity

 Alhaji Sanusi Sarki, the newly appointed Caretaker Committee Chairman of Gusau Local Government in Zamfara, has called for stakeholders’ support to end insecurity challenges in the council area.

Sarki, who made the appeal when he assumed office in Gusau on Tuesday, pledged that the new leadership of the council was ready to partner with all stakeholders to improve security in the area.

“As we all know, peace is key for development, and security is the responsibility of all, every one of us has a role to play in promoting peace and stability in the society.

“We are ready to support the PDP-led administration in the state under Gov. Bello Matawalle to ensure peace and stability is sustained in the state.

“We need support and cooperation from the people at the grassroots, especially the traditional and religious leaders, to maintain peace and stability,” he said.

Sarki announced plan by the council to introduce comprehensive youths and women empowerment programme aimed at tackling unemployment and poverty among the people.

He thanked the entire staff and management for the warm reception given to him and assured them of his commitment to improve their welfare.

The chairman also appreciated traditional and religious leaders, politicians, women and youth groups in the area and solicited their support.

Earlier, the council Secretary, Alhaji Nura Musa, commended the governor for appointing Sarki as the caretaker chairman and pledged the support and cooperation of the entire staff to move the council forward. (NAN)
