The Zamfara State government has on Wednesday announced the approval of N4,854,135,954.53 for the construction of an ultra-modern central motor park in Gusau, the state capital, as part of its Urban Renewal project.
Sulaiman Bala Idris, the spokesperson for Governor Dauda Lawal announced this in a statement shortly after an extraordinary Executive Council meeting chaired by the Governor.
He said the meeting also addressed several critical issues beneficial to the state’s development.
“The construction of the park is a crucial component of the state’s Urban Renewal project and will significantly enhance the state’s transport infrastructure and service delivery,” the statement read.
It further explained that the project is set to be a collaborative effort, jointly funded by the Ministry for Local Government and the Ministry of Commerce, Industry & Tourism while the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure will oversee its execution.
The new motor park, according to Idris will feature several amenities, including offices for government and union use, a fire station, guest lodges, a clinic, a police station, a warehouse, a POS centre, and a mechanical centre with a car wash.
These facilities aim to provide comprehensive services, ensuring a well-rounded infrastructure that supports both local and interstate transportation needs.
He added that the project is expected to play a significant role in improving the transport infrastructure in Zamfara State, aligning with the broader objectives of the Urban Renewal initiative.
