Zamfara Govt Suspends Emir For Turbaning Bandits’ Leader

The Zamafara State Government has suspended Alhaji Aliyu Garba Marafa, emir of Yandoto Emirate for turbaning Ado Alieru, bandits kingpin notorious for breaching public peace.

The emir was reported to have turbanned the notorious killer on Friday.

Kabiru Balarabe Sardauna, the Secretary to the State Government in a statement said the government was not aware of the event and as such distanced itself from it.

He noted that the Yandoto emir has been suspended, adding that a six-man committee has been set to investigate the emir’s intent.

The Statement in full

This is to inform the general public that the Zamfara State Government has dissociated itself from the alleged turbaning of a Sarkin Fulani by the Emir of Birnin ‘Yandoto of Tsafe Local Government Area. In this regard, the State Executive Governor, Hon. Bello Mohammed Matawalle, MON (Shattiman Sokoto) has directed for the suspension of the Emir with immediate effect.

  1. Accordingly, the Executive Governor has approved the appointment of a Committee to investigate the circumstances leading to the action of the Emir. The composition of the Committee is as follows:

a) Hon. Yahaya Chado Gora       – Chairman
b) Hon. Yahaya Mohd Kanoma    – Member
c) Hon. Muhd Umar B/Magaji   Member  
d) Hon. Lawal Abubakar Zannah  – Member
e) Isa Muhd Moriki (Rtd P/Sec)  – Member
f) Bar. Musa Garba (   SG/PSec.  MOJ   ) – Secretary

  1. In the meantime, Alh. Mahe Garba Marafa, who is the District Head of ‘Yandoto is hereby assigned to take charge of the affairs of the Emirate.
