Zamfara Guber: Police Nab 40 Over Vandalisation, Looting

Zamfara Police Command says its operatives have arrested 40 suspected hoodlums for allegedly vandalizing and looting public facilities after the candidate of the opposition People Democratic Party (PDP), Lawal Dare, was declared winner of the March 18 governorship election.

The suspects under the guise of jubilation destroyed and looted properties in the state.

Mohammed Shehu, spokesman for the command stated that the suspects also attacked the office of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) in the state.

The police spokesman further explained that the force detectives recovered several items from the suspects, naming a 50-year-old man identified as Yahaya Abubakar among the suspects arrested.

Shehu noted that the Commissioner of Police, Kolo Yusuf assured a diligent investigation with a view to arresting fleeing suspects and their collaborators for prosecution as well as recovering the looted property.

He listed some of the items recovered to include; 36 Bundles of Wrappers, eight cushion chairs, three set of television, one 5000 litre tank, one solar panel and one golf three vehicle.

Others are six bag of POP cement, two rugs carpet, one freezer, three window burglary proofs, one big gate, one office centre table, one air conditioner among others.
