Zamfara Youths Boo Ex-Gov Yarima at Inauguration of Local Security Guards

Despite the Zamfara State government’s assurance of a fair and level playing ground for all parties during the inauguration of its Community Protection Guards, irate youths in the state expressed their displeasure by booing former governor Sani Ahmed Yarima.

Sani who ruled Zamfara from 1999 to 2003 was called to deliver a speech at the inauguration of Community Protection Guards (Askarawan Zamfara) but as soon as his name was mentioned, irate youths began to chant ‘bamayi-bamayi’, literally meaning ‘we don’t like him’, thus forcing the former governor to deliver a short speech and walked out of the podium amid continuous chants by the people.

A video clip of the event obtained by WikkiTimes showed the former governor walking to the stage, delivering an inaudible speech and walking back as the people continued to rant abuses about him.
