Two minor girls including an 18-month-old baby were trapped in a building collapse in Jigawar Tsada village of Dutse local council, Jigawa State.
The incident according to reports happened on Thursday night, as a result of a heavy downpour.
Residents of the area said the children were sleeping when the building collapsed and all of the victims died on the spot.
Confirming the incidence to newsmen, the Jigawa State Police Command PPRO, Shiisu Lawan Adamu said upon receipt of the report, police operatives visited the scene and evacuated the bodies of the girls to General Hospital Dutse where they were confirmed dead by a medical doctor.
He identified the deceased as Farida Idi, 6, Mariya Idi, 3, and Bilkisu Yahaya, 18 months old.
Lawan said their bodies have been released to their relatives for burial according to Islamic rite.
