The Federal University of Kashere (FUK), Gombe State, has graduated a total of 6,872 undergraduate students including 91 with first class in its combined convocation ceremony.
Speaking at the event, Vice Chancellor Prof. Umaru Pate described it as a defining moment in the university’s young history.
Prof. Pate said four academic sessions (2021–2025), was split into separate ceremonies for undergraduate and postgraduate students to ensure proper recognition for each category.
He disclosed that 1,899 graduated with second class upper division honors, and 3,917 with second class lower division. Another 960 received third class degrees, while three were awarded pass degrees. The gender breakdown included 4,791 males and 2,079 females.
The event also featured the university’s first-ever postgraduate graduation, with 584 students receiving advanced degrees: 16 PhDs, 464 Master’s degrees, and 76 Postgraduate Diplomas.
Dignitaries at the ceremony included Gombe State Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya and Nigeria’s Coordinating Minister of Health, who represented President Bola Tinubu. The minister laid the foundation stone for a ₦4 billion Senate Building as a flagship project under the Special Presidential Intervention Initiative.
During the convocation, major infrastructure projects, including two student hostels, new faculty buildings, the College of Medical Sciences, and a 500-seat lecture theatre were commissioned.
The VC urged the graduates to embrace digital skills, innovation, and adaptability in an era where automation and artificial intelligence are reshaping the global workforce.
“Millions of jobs may disappear, but millions more will be created by technology,” he said. “You must be bold, creative, and ready to lead change.”
He also thanked government agencies, community leaders, and institutional partners for their support and called on graduates to be proud ambassadors of the university.
