Awwal Umar of All Progressives Congrass has been declared winner of Giwa West House of Assembly election.
Declaring the results in Giwa, Prof Maryam Suleiman, Returning officer of the election said: “Having satisfied the requirements of the law, and scored the highest number of votes, Awwal Umar of the APC is returned elected.”
Prof. Suleiman declared that the APC candidate scored 15,603 votes to defeat the PDP candidate, Bello Mu’azu who polls 14,897 votes.
“NNPP scored 1,928, Labour Party, LP 252 votes, while PRP polls 100 votes.
“Other parties that contested the election include ADP with 49 votes, ADC 450 and SDP that scored 18 votes,” she added.
