Councilors Impeach Bauchi LG Chair, Deputy Over Financial Misconduct

Councilors in Shira local government area of Bauchi State have impeached Abdullahi Bello, chairman of the council, and his deputy, Usman Adamu, over gross misconduct, failure to discharge duties, and abuse of office.

WikkiTimes reports that the impeachment follows a report submitted by the committee to investigate the allegations leveled against the chairman and his deputy.

Confirming the impeachment in a telephone interview with our reporter on Monday, the Council Leader, of Shira local government, Wali Adamu said both the impeached chairman and deputy were found guilty in the committee report set up to investigate the allegations.

“The chairman and his deputy were found guilty of financial mismanagement, failure to perform duties, breach of trust and abuse of office.

“The council hereby declared office of the Chairman and Vice Chairman of Shira local government vacant,” Adamu said.

WikkiTimes learned that the council also approved the appointment of the leader of the council members, Wali Adamu, as acting chairman of local government pending the conduct of election in the area.
