Professor Mainasara Y. Kurfi, the immediate past Head of the Department of Mass Communication at Bayero University, Kano, has lost his father, Alhaji Mainasara Ahmad Bindawa.
The elder statesman and traditional titleholder of Ajiyan Maradin Katsina died Thursday night at 94 in Kurfi Local Government Area of Katsina State.
Professor Kurfi announced the death through his official Facebook page and expressed deep grief over the loss and requested continued prayers for his late father.
The late nonagenarian was widely known for his wisdom, humility, and unwavering commitment to the development of his community and the promotion of Islamic values.
He is survived by two wives, twenty children, and over one hundred grandchildren, many of whom continue to uphold the values and principles he stood for.
The funeral prayer was held on Friday in Kurfi town, attracting a large gathering of mourners, including religious scholars, academics, traditional leaders, government officials, and members of the public, who came to honour his memory and offer prayers for his soul.
Late Alhaji Bindawa will be remembered as a symbol of integrity, devotion, and community strength — a beacon whose influence extended far beyond his immediate environment.
