A leading Nigerian Islamic scholar and spiritual figure in Tijjaniya Sufi Order, Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi, has died at the age of 100.
Family sources confirmed to RFI Hausa that the influential Tijaniyyah leader passed away on Wednesday night. He is survived by his wives and more than 80 children.
Multiple sources also confirmed that Sheikh Bauchi will be buried on Friday in Bauchi, with the funeral rites expected to be led by Sheikh Sharif Ibrahim Saleh Al-Hussein.
Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi was widely regarded as one of the most prominent custodians of the Tijaniyyah Sufi order in West Africa. For decades, he was a central figure in religious scholarship, teaching, and spiritual guidance across northern Nigeria and beyond.
