The Bauchi State Government has announced plans to begin a statewide workers verification exercise called Nominal Roll Validation to sanitize the state’s staff records and enhancing the credibility of the payroll system.
The exercise, which was to commence on Monday, 21st October 2024, will last for twelve weeks and cover fifteen designated centers across the state.
In a circular signed by Mohammed Sani Umar, Permanent Secretary of Establishments and SERVICOM Matters Bureau, on behalf of the Office of the Head of Civil Service dated 14th October and obtained by WikkiTimes, the exercise is being coordinated by the Bauchi State Civil Service Commission in collaboration with the Bureau for Information, Communication Technology and Digital Economy, and Onyx Investment Advisory Limited.
According to the circular, the initiative seeks to update and verify the documentation of civil servants for upload into the state’s Human Resource Integrated System Portal.
It added that staff officers in Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) will play crucial roles in the validation process, ensuring that all relevant personnel documents are accurately scanned and recorded.
The circular noted that Honourable Commissioners and Accounting Officers have been urged to oversee the exercise within their respective agencies to ensure strict compliance with the established timetable.
The government expects the validation exercise to help maintain a clean and transparent payroll system, contributing to better personnel management in the state.
WikkiTimes learnt that the exercise may not be unconnected with the state’s effort to clean the payroll prior to implementation of the new minimum wage.
