Bauchi State Government is set to establish a modern Zonal library in Ningi Local Government Area to enhance educational infrastructure in the region.
The Assistant Director of the Bauchi State Library Board, Alhaji Nazif Mahmud Abubakar, announced this on Friday during a visit to convey the governor’s approval to the Ningi LGA chairman, Hon. Nasiru Zakari.
Alhaji Abubakar said the new library will be a one-story building with the capacity to house over 50,000 books and journals. It will also feature a Joint Admission and Matriculatiton Baord (JAMB) center which will be equipped with 280 computers and an e-library, aiming to modernize and enhance access to educational resources in the area.
He said the Commissioner of Education, Dr. Jamila Dahiru had earlier proposed the construction of two Zonal modern libraries in the state which the governor decided to situate one in Ningi.
Alhaji Abubakar further stated that once the local government provides the designated site, the construction is expected to be completed within three months.
He congratulated the people of Ningi and the entire Bauchi Central Zone for siting the library which he desribed as significant development.
In response, the Chairman, Hon. Zakari, expressed profound gratitude to the governor on behalf of the people of Ningi.
He lauded the governor for the continuous developmental projects allocated to the area, including earlier road projects that would contribute to the transformation of the local government into a more urbanized region.
Hon. Zakari affirmed that the governor’s efforts would not be forgotten, and his name will be inscribed in the annals of history for these remarkable contributions.
Following the formal acceptance of the governor’s approval, he led the State Library Board team to the site designated for the library’s construction.
