Ex-Bauchi governor Abubakar returns to bar, leads APC`s counsels in Farouk VS Bulkachuwa’s Case

Former Bauchi state governor MA Abubakar has appeared before the court of Appeal in Jos, leading legal luminaries defending Adamu Muhammad Bulkachuwa, husband to Zainab Bulkachuwa, President of the Court of Appeal.

The former governor, a lawyer himself also lost a petition he filed challenging the victory of Bala Mohammed, the incumbent governor of Bauchi state.

It would be recalled that the National Assembly Election Petition Tribunal in Bauchi on the 6th of September, 2019, has dismissed the petition lodged by Farouk Mustafa of the New Nigerian People’s Party (NNPP) against Adamu Muhammad Bulkachuwa of the All Progressive Congress (APC).

Many spectators at the time predicted that Farouk would lose at the tribunal in view of Bulkachuwa’s influence within the country’s justice system.

Farouk had filed an appeal challenging Bulkachuwa in a case to be presided over by Justice Azira Mshelia.

Farouk’s counsel, Joe Dappa, urged the court o reverse the judgment of the tribunal and declares his client, the winner of the 23rd February, 2019, senatorial elections in Bauchi North Sensorial District.

MA Abubakar, the immediate past governor of the state who recently said he will appeal his case urged the appeal court to dismiss the case filed by Farouk.
