The State House of Assembly has announced that it will investigate Dambam Local Government Area (LGA) Caretaker Chairman, Mohammad Sabo Joji.
The Deputy Chairman of the State Assembly Committee on Public Petitions, Barrister Habib Umar, disclosed this while fielding questions from journalists after today’s plenary session.
Umar said the committee had received petitions from three indigenes of the LGA against the caretaker chairman.
The lawmaker stated that the first petitioner, Umar Danlami, is accusing the chairman of alleged misconduct and misappropriation of local public funds, which he claims is contrary to the local government service rule.
Umar revealed that the second petitioner, Mohammad Adamu Ja’eh, has accused the Chairman of illegally confiscating his five hectares of farmland in the area.
The third petitioner, Suleiman, according to Umar, is accusing the LGA chair of denying him his schedule of duties after serving as a councillor in the local government.
He said the committee, after receiving the three petitions, would conduct thorough investigations and invite the affected persons to ensure justice prevails.
The lawmaker further urged the people of the state to report any cases of misconduct, negligence, and abuse of fundamental rights to the petition committee for necessary legislative action.
Meanwhile, the Leader of the State Assembly, Sale Hodi Jibir, during the plenary presided over by Speaker Abubakar Y. Suleiman, presented the proposed 2024/2025 calendar for the house sittings.
