ADSIEC To Conduct Adamawa LG Elections In July

The Adamawa State Independent Electoral Commission (ADSIEC) has announced that it has fixed Saturday 13th July 2024 as a tentative date for the conduct of local government elections in the state.

Muhammed Umar, Chairman of the commission, revealed this Tuesday at a press briefing at the Headquarters of the Commission in Yola, the Adamawa State capital.

According to him, “As you are aware, the tenure of the Local Government Councils has expired and it is the responsibility of the Commission to conduct new elections to fill in the vacancies as promulgated by law. It is therefore imperative and constitutional for the Commission to announce a date for the conduct of the council elections.

Consequently, Umar said the Commission at its meeting held on the 27th of May, 2024 fixed Saturday 13th of July 2024 as the tentative date for the conduct of the elections.

He added that notices of the election into the offices of Chairman and Councillors shall be published at the ADSIEC Headquarters and Local Government offices.

The ADSIEC Commissioner explained that the timetable/schedule of activities and timelines for the conduct of the elections will be released within the week.
