Bauchi FOMWAN Wins National Award On Education –Chairperson

Mrs Aisha Ibrahim, chairperson, Federation of Muslim Women Association in Nigeria (FOMWAN), Bauchi  chapter, says the state chapter had won the association’s 2021 National Merit Award in education.

Ibrahim, who revealed this to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Bauchi, on Tuesday, added that FOMWAN’s National Secretariat annually assesses the performance of state chapters in all its thematic areas and gives the award to the overall winner.

Ibrahim explained that the award ceremony is held after every 10 years and “we were awarded the best state in Education, after the 2021 national conference held in Abuja last week”.

“Part of our success story was that for the period under review, the Bauchi chapter successfully mainstreamed 2,000 pupils from our non-formal centres.

“We conducted series of vocational trainings for adolescent girls and we also returned 111 back to school.

“We have about eight schools across the state and we have increased our enrollment for West African examination and other National examinations  for senior classes, among others,” she said.

Ibrahim said FOMWAN had prioritized school enrollment and retention to completion in its line up of activities, just as the “level of educational activities in the state was considered during the annual assessment”.
