Some unknown gunmen have reportedly attacked the Adamawa State Police Headquarters in the early hours of Wednesday.
It is currently uncertain if there were causalities.
According to a source who reportedly spoke to Daily Trust, sounds of gunshots rent the air for at least 30 minutes at the Police command located at Jimeta, Yola North Local Government Area of the State.
The WikkiTimes contacted Superintendent of Police (SP), Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, Police Public Relations Officer, but he did not respond to phone calls or a text message sent to him at press time.
Although he confirmed the attack to Daily Trust, he said things were under control, adding that the attack was repelled, but the identities of those behind it were unknown. Another national daily also confirmed the incident.
It is not the first time the Nigerian Police or military would face such confrontation. In 2011, the Police Force Headquarters in Abuja was attacked by the insurgents. The incident left six persons dead.
