The Federation of Muslim Women Association of Nigeria (FOMWAN), Plateau chapter, has decried spike in COVID-19 cases in the state, attributing the increase in the number of victims of the pandemic to complacency.
The FOMWAN chairperson in the state , Mrs Muhibba Abdulrazak, made the remark in an interview with News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Jos, on Wednesday.
“It is so sad that people are not complying with the COVID-19 protocols. I appeal to citizens to abide by the protocols for there is nothing as good as having good health,”Abdulrazak said.
She said adhering to preventive measures would help to forestall further community transmission of the disease in the state.
Similarly, Mrs Mercy Lenka, the Chairperson of National Association of Nigerian Nurses and Midwives (NANNM), Jos University Teaching Hospital chapter, expressed concern over failure by faithful to observe physical distancing at worship centres.
Lenka also decried the rise in community transmission of the virus, saying there is need for concerted efforts to combat the pandemic.
She also stated that the virus was spreading faster in cold areas such as Jos, urging members of the community to take responsibility for their health and that of their loved ones.
