Gov Sani Swears in New Grand Khadi, Vows to Fight Corruption

Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State on Tuesday officially swore in Muhammed Danjuma as the Grand Khadi of the Sharia Court of Appeal, underscoring a commitment to combat corruption within the state’s judiciary and civil service.

During the swearing-in ceremony in Kaduna, Governor Sani emphasized his administration’s determination to collaborate with anti-corruption agencies to address issues of corruption within the judiciary. He highlighted the need to address grassroots complaints regarding alleged misconduct by lower court judges.

Governor Sani specifically charged Grand Khadi Danjuma with the responsibility of instilling discipline among the staff of the Sharia Court of Appeal, particularly those in the lower courts who have closer interactions with the general public.

Expressing gratitude to the National Judicial Council for recommending Danjuma, the governor expressed confidence in the new Grand Khadi’s ability to transform the Sharia Court of Appeal into a true bastion of justice for the citizens of Kaduna State.

Emphasizing the importance of collaboration between the executive and the judiciary, Governor Sani stressed that the government’s primary focus is the welfare and security of the people.

“I thank the National Judicial Council, for recommending the highly experienced legal practitioner and scholar of Islamic law, for appointment as the Grand Khadi.

“I am confident that the new Grand Khadi, Mohammed Aminu, will position the Sharia Court of Appeal and make it a true temple of justice for the citizens of Kaduna State.

“Our administration is committed to ensuring the rule of law and independence of the judiciary in Kaduna state.

“We shall continue to give the judiciary the support it needs to perform optimally and ensure access to justice for our citizens.

“However, to serve our people better and advance social justice, there must be synergy between the executive and the judiciary,” the governor said.

In his response, Grand Khadi Danjuma assured that he would work towards fostering discipline within the Shariah justice system in Kaduna State. He pledged to discharge his constitutional mandate in strict accordance with the law, without bias or favouritism.
