The Katsina State Government has ordered for immediate closure of all private health training institutions in the state.
The government said the decision followed alarming reports of unqualified medical health graduates the schools are producing in addition to proliferation of unregistered institutions.
Isah Miqdad, media aide to the state governor said the directive followed the recent findings by the Ministry of Health about the operations of the unregistered private health Katsina Government Closes All Private Health Training Institutions.
According to him, the institutions are expected to be examined and screened thoroughly by the Ministry of Health in the forthcoming days.
”All these exercises of verification will be conducted within the next 7 to 14 days. The number of unqualified medical health graduates these institutions are producing is alarming”, he said.
Miqdad said the decision will remain in effect until a thorough re-evaluation and fresh registration process is undertaken to ensure that every institution meets the stringent health standards required to operate.
“The proprietors are to come to the State Ministry of Health with all necessary documents from Thursday 24th – 25th Friday 2024 for verification and fresh registration meeting with a special committee, chaired by the Hon S.A to H.E on Health Institutions”, he added.
Recall that Governor Dikko Radda has recently while on a tour of primary Healthcare facilities in the state vowed to reposition the healthcare sector for effective service delivery.
