One year after killing about 50 locals in Goronyo market, bandits loyal to a terror kingpin, Bello Turji, yesterday, set alight Bari Village of Goronyo community in Sokoto State.
According to a Twitter post by Idris Mohammed, the bandits invaded the community around 05:00 pm, shooting sporadically and displacing locals, women and children, especially.

“Bandits suspected to be Turji boys set a Sokoto community ablaze now,” Idris tweeted. “A resident reported that the bandit invaded Bari Village of Goronyo around 5:00 pm shooting indiscriminately and setting the town on fire. Women & children remained the most affected victims in the incident.”
In October 2021, terrorists loyal to Turji stormed Goronyo market and killed 49 locals. The attack lasted for two days, WikkiTimes learnt. This, according to him, was a retaliation for the killings of his six family members by the outlawed Yan Sakai group during an attack on a mosque in Gwadabawa. The genesis of the attack, according to reports, was linked to some cattle rustled by Yan Sakai and given to the Emir of Zurmi.

In another attack, Turji and his men waylaid a bus around Gidan Bawa village, Isa Local Government Area of Sokoto State. At least, 23 passengers were set ablaze in during the attack.
Earlier this year, Turji masterminded the slaughtering of over 200 locals in Zamfara State. This was among the numerous attacks on civilians and security forces coupled with the abduction of farmers, women and children in the Sokoto-Zamfara axis.
