Sokoto Gov. to Sanction LEA Officials for Misappropriation

Sokoto State Governor Ahmed Aliyu has threatened to sanction officials of Local Education Authorities (LEAs) for diverting Sallah package meant for staff or face the consequences.

Speaking at the Government House, Sokoto, the governor frowned the manner some LEA officials allegedly siphoned parts of Sallah gift he gave to workers to celebrate the recently concluded Eid festivities.

Nasser Bazza, Senior Special Assistant on New Media to Governor Aliyu said the governor was furious about inability of some of the finance officers especially at the local government levels to disburse the N30,000 approved Sallah gifts.

The governor warned that any official who failed to return the money he diverted will face the full wrath of the law.

“Governor Ahmed Aliyu has warned local government and Local Government Education Authority officials  who tampered with the N30,000 sallah gifts given to the workers in the state to return the diverted funds or face serious consequences.

“He expressed dismay over the nefarious attitude of some finance officers, especially at the local governments level who denied their staff the ₦ 30,000 approved as Sallah gifts by the State government”, said Bazza in a post on X.

WikkiTimes understand that there was outcry in some local government areas of the state as some finance officers allegedly disbursed N20,000 instead of the N30,000 approved.
