Two Arrested as Woman Found Dead Near Adamawa Varsity

Police in Adamawa State have arrested two suspects in connection with the death of a yet-to-be-identified young woman whose body was discovered with multiple stab wounds behind the fence of the Adamawa State University, Mubi.

Residents of the area reportedly found the corpse on Tuesday and immediately alerted security operatives. The police later evacuated the body to the Federal Medical Centre, Mubi, for autopsy.

A counter-insurgency analyst, Zagazola Makama, who shared details of the incident on X (formerly Twitter), said the Divisional Police Officer of Mubi North led detectives to the scene following a distress call around noon on October 21.

According to Makama, the officers took photographs and recovered the remains of the victim before depositing them at the mortuary.

He added that preliminary investigations led to the arrest of two men identified as Private Tanko Salihu and Yahaya Idi Gadzama.

When contacted on Thursday, the spokesperson for the Adamawa State Police Command, Yahaya Suleiman, said he had yet to receive a full briefing on the case but promised to provide updates later.

Repeated calls made to his line on Thursday evening were not answered at the time of filing this report.

The circumstances surrounding the killing remain unclear, though police sources said efforts are ongoing to establish the motive and identify the victim.

This incident adds to recent reports of fatal knife attacks involving people in Nigeria.
