Armed bandits have struck again, abducting seven residents, including a 16-year-old boy and six young women, in Gidan-Bijimi, a community in Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
The attack occurred around 9:47 p.m. on Wednesday, with the bandits, armed with AK-47 rifles, storming two houses and firing sporadically.
According to Daily Trust, Suleiman Shuaibu, a resident, said vigilantes who tried to intervene were overwhelmed by the bandits’ superior firepower. The abducted victims, aged between 16 and 23, are yet to be contacted by their families, with no ransom demands made.
The incident has sparked fear among residents, with some fleeing their homes. This latest attack comes just days after the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, ordered tighter security measures across Abuja
