Bauchi state government has distributed Midwifery kits to 126 indigenous midwifery graduates of School of Midwifery Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital, ATBUTH, Bauchi to enable them perform optimally in their places of primary assignment.
While distributing the items, the Executive Chairman of the Bauchi State Primary Health Care Development Agency, Dr. Rilwanu Muhammad urged the graduates to exhibit high sense of professionalism in their various places of work.
The kits contained allthat is needed by the midwives who also undergone a five-day orientation aftertheir graduation, to prepare them for their jobs.
Dr. Rilwanu Muhammad saidthe graduates comprised of seventy nine Basic and forty seven Community Midwiveswho would be posted to fill the already existing gaps in each of the threehundred and twenty three One Main Primary Health Care facilities across thestate.
He explained that theBasic Healthcare Provision Fund had given approval to the state government toengage four Basic or Community midwives in each of the one main PHCs in thethree hundred and twenty three wards in the state.
In an address, Director Nursing Services ofthe State Ministry of Health, Abdullahi Ahmed Saleh urged the graduates tochange the negative narratives of bad attitudes of health workers.
Some of the graduatesinterviewed Hauwa Auwal Mu’azu and Bilkisu Sulaiman Adam pledged to judiciouslyuse the kits and put into practice what they have learnt.
