A mild drama ensued in Kano when one of this year’s intending pilgrims from the state started performing his rites at the Hajj camp as hopes to fly to the Holy Land dashed.
The intending pilgrim, Malam Jibrin Abdu from Gezawa local government area of Kano State, drew the attention of other intending pilgrims at the Hajj camp after he was seeing wearing Hiram, a cloth that Muslim faithful wears to signify the commencement of Hajj in the Holy Land.

He said he has started his Hajj since there are some of the things needed to perform the rites, reiterating that he will come back to finish the religious obligation since this is not the first time he was making efforts to go to Hajj and this will not be the last.
He added that he has sold his farmland to raise money to go to Hajj but some people at the helm of affairs of the exercise denied them the opportunity to perform it, even though he believes it was the Will of Allah.
Apart from Malam Abdu, another female intending pilgrim, Malama Suwaiba Sani and many others condemned in strong terms the attitude of those that hindered them from flying to Mecca. The pilgrims vowed they would never forgive the “cheats.”
Reports have indicated that there are about 745 pilgrims left stranded at the Aminu Kano International Airport Kano, as at the time of the last flight airlifting pilgrims to Mecca on Thursday.

The Executive Secretary Kano state Pilgrims Welfare Board Mohammed Abba Banbatta and many directors of the agency who were among those that missed the flight attributed the circumstance to the failure of the National Pilgrims Welfare Board for no fulfilling the promise made with Azman Airline, the company contracted to convey the pilgrims to Mecca which led to addition of airlift time to Nigeria by Saudi Authorities but up to this moment many have missed going for Hajj.
Reports have shown that not only Kano but there are many states with similar cases of intending pilgrims not making it to the Holy Land.
