An Open Letter to President Muhammad Buhari

Dear Mr President ,
Sir, I write you this letter with a profound respect to your reputable personality as the President of the Federal Republic of  Nigeria, though with a heavy heart. As a student and patriotic citizen who desires change, growth and development of this country could not help it but register my dissatisfaction with the current war against corruption in the country.

May I be honoured, to remind you of your words during first tenure inauguration in 2015 that “I belong to everybody and I belong to nobody”. This asserts that, you will combat corruption in Nigeria no matter whose ox is gored. This help immensely to form your good image as a man with zero tolerance for corruption and reputable integrity in the minds of Nigerians.

Sir,  the promise made us to believe that your administration will fight corruption in the spirit of neutrality and impartiality. And  that the “nation ethics” as itemized in section 23 of the 1999 constitution that deals  with discipline, integrity, diginity of labour, characteristics that are antithetical to corruption will be invoke to check corruption and restore the nation path to greatness.

With the apparent selectivity of the anti-graft agencies of going after mostly against the opposition parties members, Nigerians could no longer differentiate if the war against corruption is reality or a mere illusion.
Your excellency sir,  It’s ridiculous and inexpressible for your administration to accommodate  individuals with charges and  corrupt allegations and other related offences  and saddled them with the responsibility to administer various national assignment.

Sir, according to PremiumTimes report, one of your senior minister  was once caught in a corruption scandal involving deals worth $550,00 (about 200 million- 362 to a dollar). But he was let off the hook after negotiating to forfeit part of his loot to the state. This report has been published since 26 August 2019 yet presidency watch in akimbo. In the same vein, an investigative report published by News Digest, an Abuja  based online newspaper on May 19,2018 title “Inside Kwara Factory Where Indian Hemp is Legalised”.

The factory, Hillcrest Agro-Allied industry in Ilorin, Kwara state, is said to be owned by a former acting Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Sarah Alade. Sir, The author, Alfred Olufemi that uncover the alleged consumption  of Indian hemp in the said company,  and the young editor Gidado Yushau Shuaib  were arraigned over a petition from the company, charging them with criminal conspiracy and defamation yet the Presidential Advisory Committee on Elimination of Drug Abuse (PACEDA) under the chairmanship of Gen. Buba Marwa rtd. Which their job were made easier by the author of the story haven’t said anything and leave them to their fate. And the alleged owner of this company was appointed as adviser on Finance and Economy under your exalted office.

On a final note, Sir,  I believe the time is now to hold firmly to your promises and sustain your very good image as a man of reputable integrity. Let the fight against corruption change and the change in all sense, and that no sacred cow will  be spared.
