‘Anti-party Activities’ — Bauchi APC Chairman Defies Court Order

Babayo Aliyu Misau, the Bauchi State All Progressives Congress (APC) allegedly defied a court order restraining him from parading himself as the chairman of the party in the state following allegations of anti-party activities during the last gubernatorial elections.

In a contempt preceeding instituted at the Bauchi State High Court, the embattled chairman was asked to step aside pending the determination of a motion filed before his chairmanship.

WikkiTimes learnt that a party member, Al-Muntaqa Zubairu had filed an originating summons on the April 3, before the Bauchi State High Court and obtained an interim order granted by Justice Lamido K. Umar of the High Court No. 7.

Despite the court’s ruling, Aliyu continued to serve as chairman of the party..

Justice Lamido while ruling over the motion filed before the court, ordered APC to stop recognizing Babayo Aliyu as its state chairman as he was suspended from the party by executives of his wards in Misau and also for the defendant to vacate the position pending the determination of the motion.

“That an order of Interim Injunction be and is hereby made restraining the 1st Defendant/Respondent from further parading himself as a Member of the 2nd Defendant/Respondent or the Chairman of the 2nd Defendat/Respondent, pending the determination of the Montion on Notice.

“That an order of Interim Injunction be and is hereby made restraining the 2nd Defendant/Respondent from dealing with the 1st Defendant/Respondent as a Member or the Chairman of the 2nd Defendant/Respondent, pending the determination of the Motion on Notice,” read the court order.

According to the Plaintiff, Zubairu, the respondent had breached Contempt proceedings.

WikkiTimes had reported that Aliyu was accused of not voting for Sadique Baba Abubakar, APC governorship candidate.

The party executives said he displayed his ballot papers, showing that he only voted for a member of his party contesting for the House of Assembly. In response to this, they suspended him.
