BAHA Speaker urges social media group to report for lasting peace in Africa

Social media users in Africa have been charged to use their various platforms towards promoting unity, brotherhood and lasting peace in the continent.


Speaker of the Bauchi State House of Assembly, Rt. Honourable Abubakar Suleiman gave the charge while speaking at the 9th annual general meeting of Hadin Kan Africa Social Media Awareness forum held in Zaranda Hotel Bauchi on Sunday.

Represented by his Spokesperson, Malam Abdul Ahmad Burra, the speaker explained that social media which is part of globalization facilitated by advancement in technology has become an avenue that brought all people of Africa on one platform.


“I enjoin you to explore all the positive opportunities of social media to enhance the economy, unite our diverse people from different countries and bring development to Africa”.


According to the Speaker, Africa has been at the receiving end of many social ills such as insurgency, diseases and many conflicts and disasters.


He commended the forum for their patriotic commitment which led them to come together for the purpose of unity, tasking them to sanitize African social media space by fighting people who are misusing the platforms for the spread of fake news and creation of hatred and disharmony among people of the Continent.


He also lauded the forum for their humanitarian assistance to orphans which he described as very rewarding and heart touching gesture.

The Speaker pledged the commitment of Bauchi State House of Assembly in any effort and movement aimed at promoting unity and humanitarian services in the Country.


The Forum later presented an award to the Speaker for his humility and humanitarian services.
