Ban on religious activities will end if COVID-19 is controlled — Bauchi Information Commissioner

Honorable Garba Dahiru, Bauchi state Commissioner for Information and Communications has said that the state government will lift the ban on religious activities when the spread of coronovirus disease in the state is brought under control.

Garba Dahiru made this known in an interview with newsmen in Bauchi.

He said the order for the suspension of jumaat prayers and sunday services was still imposed.

According to him, all orders and restrictions would be lifted if the state government is able to curb further spread of coronovirus.

” Bauchi state Government under the leadership of His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Bauchi state, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, Kauran Bauchi wishes to draw the attention of the people of the state that the order on suspension of jumaat prayers and sunday services as well as other religious activities are still imposed not suspended.

” This order is not against anybody or lack of respect for religious activities by the government, but it was part of the responsibility of the government to ensure its protect the lives and property of the citizens.”

The Information and Communications Commissioner pleaded with the people of the state not to relent in supporting policies and programmes introduced by government to fight the virus.

Honorable Garba Dahiru who is the Chairman Risk Communications, a sub committee of the State Task Force on COVID-19 appreciated the immense support and cooperation enjoined from the public in furtherance of the efforts to contain and eradicate the deadly pandemic.

He said already the committee has initiated new strategies towards sanitizing citizens both in urban and rural areas on the dangers associated with coronovirus disease.
