Bandits Attack Police Checkpoint in Zamfara, Kill 4 Officers

Armed terrorists locally known as bandits have ambushed police officers on patrol along Bungudu-Gusau road in Zamfara State.

The bandits who took the police officers unaware, opened fire on them as they were mounting a check point along the road.

Three of the officers and one constable lost their lives during the attack on Monday evening.

After killing police officers, the bandits again sacked Tagero village under Furfuri district, Bungudu LGA, and killed another person.

They also rustled several cattles belonging to residents of the village.

Confirming the attack, Yazid Abubakar, spokesman for Zamfara Police Command said the incident happened in the night when officers were on routine patrol along the road.

According to him, three police officers and one Special Constabulary lost their lives as a result of gunshots fired by the bandits.

“What happened is that the police officers were attacked while on patrol in the night, they were not stationed in one place. You when when you are on a patrol in the night you used to change positions. So they took them unaware. We lost three personnel and one Constabulary,” he told WikkiTimes.
