Two female students of Microbiology Department, Zamfara State University have been kidnapped by bandits who invaded their lodge on Sunday.
The terrorists, Daily Trust reports, stormed Sabon Gida village in Bungudu and broke into the rented apartment of the students.
They locked up two civilian guards and dispossessed them of their phones before abducting the students.
Muhammad Shehu, spokesman for Zamfara Police Command confirmed the incident, claiming police tactical team moved to the scene, but did not meet the assailants.
He said the Commissioner of Police, Kolo Yusuf, had further deployed reinforcement to complement the ongoing rescue operation.
“The Commissioner of Police therefore is appealing for continuous support from members of the public to enable the police to succeed in the rescue mission,” Shehu said.
