Bandits have reportedly killed Prof. Yusuf Saidu, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Research, Innovation, and Development of the Usman Danfodio University Sokoto, (UDUS).
Prof. Saidu was brutally killed by bandits around Kucheri village on his way to Kaduna, a violent act that has left the university community and his family in deep sorrow.
The UDUS announced his tragic death through its verified Facebook page: “We sadly announce the demise of Prof. Yusuf Saidu, the DVC Research, Innovation & Development. He was killed by bandits on his way to Kaduna. Kindly include him in your prayers.”

Al’Amin Tsafe, an alumnus of UDUS also confirmed the killing of the academic in a Facebook post. “Bandits around Kucheri attacked and killed Prof. Yusuf Saidu, DVC Research, Innovation and Development. May Allah repose his soul. May Allah bring an end to this calamity.”
Prof. Saidu was a prominent figure at Usman Danfodio University, known for his contributions to research and innovation. His death is a significant loss to the academic community and highlights the ongoing security challenges in the region.
UDUS urged the university community to pray for the repose of the soul of Prof. Saidu in this period of mourning.
