Bauchi Assembly Urges Govt To Upgrade Nabordo Clinic

The Bauchi State House of Assembly has urged the state government to upgrade the Nabordo healthcare facility to general hospital, to enhance access to quality healthcare service delivery at the grassroots.

The News Agency of Nigeria  (NAN) repots that Nabordo facility is located in Toro Local Government Area of the state.

The legislation followed the adoption of a motion presented by Mr Tukur Ibrahim (PDP Toro/Jemma’a constituency), at the plenary on Tuesday in Bauchi.

Ibrahim said the existing general hospital has been over stretched inview of the high density population in the area, hence the need for the upgrade of Nabardo facility.

“The people of the area are in need of health facilities judging by the population and landmark. Toro is sharing border with four states.

“There is high influx of people in the area, we find it difficult because of inadequate health facilitiy, increased the suffering of people especially women in labour, they suffer more due their situation,” he said.

He said the upgrade was imperative to meet the needs of the growing population and augment the Toro hospital.

The measure, he said, would improve healthcare service delivery in the area and neighbouring Jigawa, Kano, Plateau and Kaduna States.

“The PHC has the capacity and structure required for the upgrade.”

The Speaker, Mr Abubakar Sulaiman, said the House unanimously adopted the motion after extensive debate.

Suleiman called on the state government to upgrade the facility to a general hospital to address the plight of the people and serve them better.

The speaker directed the clerk to the House to transmit the resolution to  the executive for considerations. (NAN)
