Bauchi government partners World Bank, to improve 1,320 schools

Bauchi state government is to Partner the World Bank to improve 1,320 schools in five local government areas of the state.

 The state taps into the World Bank’s 2019 schools improvement project grants.

Speaking shortly after presenting a cheque of N500,000 to each of the benefiting schools, the state governor, Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed pledged to improve the funding of education as part of efforts to tackle the menace of out of school children in the state.

The governor says his administration was determined to restore primary education in the state through reforms, provision of additional infrastructure, rehabilitations and training and retraining of teachers.

The State Coordinator of the World Bank project, Muhammad Datti Umar who listed the benefiting local government areas as Zaki, Shira, Ganjuwa, Katagum Darazo and Toro, said the project was designed to finance minor issues in schools in the areas of renovations, rehabilitation of twin desk and repairs of water points.

He said measures have been taken for financing records of grant activities, development of school improvement plan and use of Kobo collect software using global positioning system to capture school based management Committee to ensure proper utilization of the funds released.

WikkiTimes reports that Bauchi state educational system particularly primary and junior secondary education has been in a total mess for years.
